MYC combines proven music education theories and Early Childhood Education principals into one fantastic program. The curriculum includes, piano, rhythm, singing and movement cohesively mixed together in a fun, imaginative environment filled with songs, story-telling, and games. This interactive approach engages children to learn, and reaches them through multiple learning styles. MYC's method allows children the freedom to explore musical concepts while building concentration, self-expression and confidence.
Taught by a Certified MYC Teacher, and accompanied by their parent, children work together in small-age specific groups to learn fundamental music and keyboarding skills including: keyboard geography, sight reading, singing, note naming, rhythms, solfege, theory, composition writing, ear training
There are 3 age-appropriate beginner keyboard levels. Students completing the advanced levels are well prepared to move into intermediate piano studies or move on to another instrument.

Children graduate from MYC in 3-5 years with the knowledge required for the Preliminary Rudiments Theory exam and the performance skills required for Grade One conservatory exams. MYC is an extremely effective program for providing children with the solid foundation they need to succeed in further study and private lessons. In addition to being of superior quality, MYC is comprehensive, confidence building and fun...and a wonderful way to begin the study of music.
MYC Teachers meet specific performance and theory qualifications. In addition they receive special program training, ongoing refresher courses and regular evaluations by their MYC area coordinators. Teachers are committed to parent involvement, encouraging learning, children and families. Jennifer Sevilla is a wife and mother, and has been playing the piano since she was 7 years old. She completed her Royal Conservatory Grade 8 exam, and Rudiments Theory II. She loves teaching children and has years of experience in swimming instruction through the Red Cross, with children as young as 6 months through to 14 years of age. Although she left teaching to pursue a career in design, the birth of her son brought on the realization that she missed teaching children and once again craved the company of those genuine, little souls. Teaching music to children has quickly become her main focus, and a sincere source of fulfillment. "Learning and understanding music does so much for a child.. far beyond the ability to play an instrument. It's an honour to be part of the process that enriches their lives in so many ways. I have found what I truly love to do."
